At Roseacre Primary Academy Nursery, we believe in creating a nurturing, exciting, and inspiring environment where every child can flourish.
From the moment they arrive, your child’s day is designed to encourage independence and a lifelong love of learning. We greet the children with a warm, friendly welcome, helping them settle into a routine where they feel safe and confident to explore.
Our entire team is dedicated to providing genuine care and nurturing. Every member of staff is committed to supporting your child’s emotional and social well-being, ensuring they feel valued, secure, and ready to learn.
Our nursery provision is led by the EYFS Lead/ Assistant Headteacher and delivered by qualified teachers supported by highly qualified and experienced early years practitioners who work as a team with colleagues from school and outside agencies to provide the best possible start for every child in their care.
Each child in the Nursery is allocated their own key person and will be in a key person group for carpet sessions, discussions and other small group activities.
Starting Nursery
To help the children settle smoothly into our nursery, we usually invite them to attend at least one stay and play session prior to them attending fully.
All children are unique and some may take longer to settle than others.
Our experienced staff are caring and sensitive to your child’s individual needs and will support them to settle in at their own pace.

EYFS Curriculum
Our curriculum is expertly designed around the Early Years Foundation Stage framework. We support children from the age of three and four in their learning, development and care, ensuring a holistic approach to their education.
We follow a balanced approach, mixing adult-led activities that teach key skills with child-initiated learning. This means your child gets expert instruction when they need it, while also having plenty of time to explore their own interests and develop crucial problem-solving skills through play.
No matter the weather, children have access to the outdoors every single day. We know how vital fresh air and physical activity are for development, offering endless opportunities for imaginative play and exploration.
Our nursery team works incredibly closely with our Reception class staff to ensure a seamless transition and a curriculum that is continuously built upon throughout your child’s entire time in the Early Years Foundation Stage. This coordinated approach ensures their learning journey is smooth and progressive.

Enriching Experiences
Our commitment to a rich curriculum goes beyond the classroom walls. We regularly welcome external visitors like dental nurses, police officers, and other ‘people who help us,’ providing real-world context for our learning. We’ve also had exciting visits from alpacas and other travelling farms, alongside many other enriching activities designed to spark curiosity and build a wider understanding of the world.
We also offer specialised activities that the children thoroughly enjoy. They take part in a weekly PE session led by a qualified external sports coach, developing their physical skills and coordination. Plus, they look forward to their weekly visit to the school library, fostering a deep love for books and reading.
Healthy meals and snacks
Fuelling busy minds and bodies is important! Children enjoy healthy snacks together, making snack time a wonderful social opportunity to share stories, chat, and build friendships.
Fruit and milk will be provided for every child, free of charge.
Your child should bring a labelled water bottle to school to drink throughout the day. This must contain water please.
At lunchtime, children have the choice of bringing in a packed lunch or enjoying a delicious, nutritious school dinner, freshly cooked right here in our academy canteen.

Partnering with parents
We highly value the importance of strong communication and working together with our parents and carers. We use our online platform, Tapestry, to ensure a two-way flow of information. Staff upload photos, observations, and messages throughout the day for you to view, and parents often upload photos of special outings and achievements from home, too! Children share their Tapestry news with others at carpet times.
Our commitment to communication continues through formal parents’ evenings at least twice a year. We also host many wonderful events, such as themed ‘Stay and Play’ sessions, warmly welcoming families into our setting to play and undertake activities with their child. And, of course, nursery staff are available at drop-off and pick-up for those important daily conversations.
