Who are the Friends of Roseacre?
The Friends are an informal group of volunteers who work in partnership with the school to enhance fundraising possibilities. Examples of how the money raised is used are below:
- provide each year group with a ‘spending pot’
- make a contribution to the purchase of a leavers hoodie for year 6 pupils.
- purchase a Christmas gift for every pupil at the academy
- contribute to school visits inc a Year 6 visit to Chillfactore
- Pay for a poet to visit school for a day to provide every child with an opportunity to write a poem
- buy Welly stands for each Reception class
- Contribute to the funding of music lessons for children in year 3 and 4
When do the Friends meet?
We’d love to welcome you to our meetings, which take place 6 times per school year, usually on the 2nd Tuesday of each half term at 6pm. The meetings are held in the staff room and you enter the school though the main reception door on Stonycroft Avenue. If the meeting times are not convenient you can still be involved just email email@example.com for more details.
Can I be involved?
Yes! Because you have a child at the school you are automatically a member. We currently have vacancies for parent helpers and you can help in the following ways:
1 hour of your time
You could be helping judge the Easter competition.
2 hours of your time
You would be helping to make and deliver a cup of hot chocolate to every child in their classrooms at ‘Book at Bedtime’ during National Book Week.
You would be helping serve refreshments at a school function, Reception Nativity for example.
3 hours of your time
You could be helping Father Christmas deliver a Christmas Present for every pupil at the academy on the last day of term.
You could be the bingo caller at Springo!
6 hours of your time
You could attend the scheduled meetings and have your say in how the Friends is run and include your own fundraising ideas for future events!
You could run a stall at the Summer Fair.
