Changes to Summative Assessments 2020/2021

 

In response to the disruption schools are facing due to the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, the Secretary of State for Education has announced changes for assessment 2020/2021

Key stage 1

Schools will administer the phonics screening check in the week beginning Monday 7 June 2021.

The KS1 tests (Year 2) have been suspended for 2021. Teachers can choose to administer past papers to help inform their teacher assessment judgements, but there is no requirement to do so.

Key stage 2

 

Year 4

Multiplication tables check Introduction of the statutory multiplication tables check (MTC) has been delayed until the 2021/22 academic year. In 2021, schools can choose to administer the MTC to year 4 pupils, between Monday 7 June and Friday 25 June, but there is no requirement to do so.

 

Year 6

The KS2 English grammar, punctuation and spelling test has been suspended for 2021. English Reading, Arithmetic and Mathematics Papers 1 and 2 will take place over a two week period, commencing Monday 10th May. More details will be provided closer to the time.
